Overview

Grand Canyon University (GCU) is a private, non‑denominational Christian university located in Phoenix, Arizona. GCU’s College of Engineering & Technology seeks a full‑time faculty member to teach Mechanical Engineering at its main campus.

• Equip students with the required skill set, facilitate classroom discussions, assess student performance, and prepare students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession.
• Teach undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses and mentor undergraduate majors in electrical engineering outside classroom hours.
• Assist administration in driving curriculum design and development.
• Work with leadership on strategic planning initiatives that advance engineering education.
• Develop and administer forward‑thinking short and long‑term plans for development and growth.
• Support diversity and collegiality among faculty, students, and staff and advocate for positive change.
• Develop and maintain relationships with industry to support internships, project collaborations, industrial mentoring, and Capstone projects.
• Assist the Dean in developing internal and external communities that promote the major field of study, the college, and the university.

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• 1–3 years of relevant work experience in an engineering field or higher‑education teaching experience in an engineering program.
• Advanced and current knowledge of Mechanical Engineering, specifically in dynamics, dynamic systems and control, or material science, or a closely related field.
• Ability to teach related coursework in Mechanical Engineering.
• Ability to articulate a clear understanding of values‑based education from a Christian perspective, supporting the university’s doctrinal statement, ethical position statement, and mission.
• Preferred:
  Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar from a regionally accredited institution.
• Preferred: 3–5 years of relevant work experience in an engineering field and engineering teaching experience.
• Preferred:
  Familiarity with higher‑education curriculum planning, best teaching and administrative practices, or a record of excellence in teaching.

  Understanding of various methods of adult learning and background in dynamics and controls.

The position is a 9‑month faculty role teaching starting in August
2026 at GCU’s main campus, 33rdAve. and Camelback, Phoenix, Arizona.
