Grand Canyon University (GCU) is a private, nondenominational Christian university located in Phoenix, Arizona.
The College of Engineering and Technology seeks a full‑time faculty member to teach Civil Engineering at the traditional campus.
LocationGCU's Main Campus, 33rd Ave. and Camelback, Phoenix, Arizona.
What You Will Do- Equip students with the required skill set, facilitate classroom discussions, assess student performance, and prepare them to be successful leaders in their chosen profession.
- Teach undergraduate courses within the Civil Engineering major, mentor and assist majors outside classroom hours.
- Assist the administration with driving curriculum design and development.
- Work with leadership on strategic planning initiatives advancing engineering education.
- Develop and administer forward‑thinking short‑ and long‑term plans for development and growth.
- Assist the University in building a solid foundation for growth of engineering programs.
- Foster and promote diversity and collegiality among faculty, students, and staff and advocate for change.
- Develop and maintain relationships with industry to support internships, project collaborations, industrial mentoring, and Capstone projects.
- Assist the Dean in developing internal and external communities that promote the major field of study, college, and University.
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Active Professional Engineer license (PE) in any state.
- Extensive, advanced, and current knowledge of Civil Engineering, specifically in Traffic Engineering, Urban Planning, Water Resources, or a closely related field.
- Ability to teach related Civil Engineering coursework.
- Ability to articulate a clear understanding of values‑based education from a Christian perspective.
- Commitment to supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission.
- Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering or similar from a regionally accredited institution.
- 3–5 years of engineering teaching experience.
- Familiarity with higher education, curriculum planning, best teaching and administrative practices.
- Record of excellence in teaching.
- Understanding of various adult learning methods.
