Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems.
- Provide daily assistance to technicians by reading blueprints, schematics, and sequences of operations, conducting system tours, and assessing working order.
- Manage uptime and maintenance of UPS, generators, electrical distribution, and control & monitoring systems.
- Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in data center facilities systems and equipment.
- Support startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into facilities infrastructure.
- Operate and support physical facility conditions for data centers, including heating, cooling, power supply, generators, UPS, and related systems.
- Ensure environmental and safety standards are met, identify problems, and perform quick repairs.
- Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment, including electrical testing equipment or electrical distribution.
- Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 50 lbs of equipment and use OSHA-standard safety equipment, including limited weight-bearing work platforms, ladders, step stools, and PPE such as safety harnesses.
- Ability to work non-standard hours and shifting rotations.
- 5 years of experience maintaining electrical distribution systems or in construction/technical environments.
- Experience working in data centers, hospitals, or power plants.
- Knowledge of data-center electrical systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switch gear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, and PDU/PMM units.
- Proficiency with meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting using hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment.
- Effective communication with contractors performing maintenance or upgrade work on data-center systems.
The Facilities Technician at Google's data centers designs, operates, and supports sophisticated electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems. Key responsibilities include heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution, and control/monitoring systems. You will inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems, support commissioning of new equipment, and manage operational performance to minimize recovery times during outages.
Pay: $95,000 - $135,000 USD plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and education.
