Job Description
Join Olsson’s South Facilities Engineering and Design team and help deliver high‑performing buildings across healthcare, education, data centers, laboratories, commercial, and federal markets. You’ll take on meaningful design ownership, coordinate across disciplines, and see your work through construction—growing your technical depth and leadership while contributing to a diverse set of complex facility projects that make a real impact.
Primary ResponsibilitiesOwn design packages for building structural systems (steel, concrete, masonry, light gauge) including gravity and lateral analysis, calculations, and details.
Produce and check drawings and models in Revit/AutoCAD; coordinate diligently with architectural, MEP, and site/civil teams for a fully integrated set.
Apply codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360) to ensure safe, constructible, and cost‑effective designs.
Support project planning—estimate level of effort, sequence design tasks, and help maintain scope, schedule, and quality commitments.
Participate in QA/QC by performing self‑checks and peer reviews; incorporate redlines and lessons learned to elevate deliverables.
Engage during construction—review submittals/RFIs, conduct site observations, and document field findings that inform design improvements.
Mentor junior engineers and technicians through task guidance, model setup, and standards adoption.
Contribute to proposals (scope notes, resumes, past performance) and occasional client meetings to support team growth.
Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering or related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
4 or more years of structural design experience on building projects.
Proficiency with Revit/AutoCAD and familiarity with structural analysis tools (e.g., RISA, STAAD, SAP
2000/ETABS).Strong knowledge of applicable codes/standards (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC).
Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills; ability to lead tasks and mentor others.
