Job Description & How to Apply Below

Zona Technical Engineering (Zona) continues to grow throughout Arizona and is ready to expand the team by opening a Phoenix office. In support of that expansion, they’re seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer who’s excited to play a key role in Zona’s continued success, while also growing their career as an industry leader.

Who You Are:
  • A Professional Mechanical Engineer with a track record of success, who’s ambitious and entrepreneurial, and excited about growth
  • You want to work on varied and community-centered projects, not just Data Centers, and have a long-term vision for a career that has an impact
  • Someone seeking a firm that blends professionalism, decades of experience, and an incredible reputation, without the bureaucracy of a large national firm – more impact, a direct voice with the Principals, and a streamlined path to revenue sharing and more
  • You take pride in exceeding expectations, creating long-term partnerships, and are ready to step into a leadership role
  • Tech-savvy, continuous learner who enjoys mentoring and sharing knowledge to develop others
What You Will Get:

This is a rare opportunity to join a well-respected and established full-service MEP engineering firm as a Senior Engineer, driving growth – in the Phoenix market, expansion of industry relationships, and financial growth – all while impacting the quality of the built environment in Arizona. With success, there’s no limit to what can be achieved.

  • Base salary target of $110-120K + profit sharing that allows for shared financial growth
  • A dedicated team, positive and open culture, with Principals who genuinely love what they do and have found success through strong connections, doing the right thing, and investing in their talented team
  • Rich benefits that include:
  • 100% employer paid health coverage for the employee, and 50% employer paid health coverage premiums for the family
  • 100% employer paid dental coverage premium for the employee
  • Employer-paid Life Insurance and Long-term Disability
  • Competitive Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Costco business membership
  • 401(k) plan with employer contributions to support your long-term financial goals
  • Investment in the employees’ continuing education, industry engagement, and professional development
What You Will Do:
  • Work with architects and project clients who are developing commercial, healthcare and medical, industrial, education, government, and municipal buildings
  • Identify client needs and develop the mechanical scope of work
  • Design, specify, and approve mechanical system plans that include methods, materials, and equipment specifications, building code compliance, and cost estimating
  • Support procurement and construction activities, and assist with field work by conducting site visits to review installations, troubleshoot, and provide solutions to issues as needed
  • Coordinate and oversee the project team, and manage the project schedule and budget
  • Mentor Engineers-in-Training (EIT’s), junior engineers, designers, and interns
  • Contribute to strategic growth initiatives
  • Expand the firm’s presence by identifying potential clients and MEP project opportunities in the Central Arizona market
  • Participate in industry organizations and networking events regularly
  • Support marketing efforts and project presentations
  • Contribute to the leadership team’s strategic vision by providing market insight and industry connections
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college
  • 6+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer that includes leading teams and client consultations for commercial, healthcare, education, governmental, and/or municipal building projects
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Arizona
  • Commissioning experience is a plus
  • Focused on quality, continuous improvement, and exceeding expectations with a proven ability to develop long-term business and client relationships
  • Technically proficient in:
  • Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Forma, Bluebeam, Carrier Hourly Analysis Program (HAP), and MS Office
  • Arizona codes, IECC codes, and ASHRAE standards
  • Ability to travel to projects and the Tucson office as needed
