Summary
The T&D Overhead Design team is looking for an experienced Transmission Overhead Engineer III/Senior with knowledge in the design of complex transmission projects, utilizing NESC code and applicable industry standards. The successful candidate will join a team of experienced transmission and distribution engineers to execute capital and maintenance projects at the medium and transmission voltage levels in Arizona. It’s an exciting time to work for APS as we experience record growth in our Transmission sector which entails upgrading existing transmission lines, designing new EHV line projects, EHV interconnections, and large customer-driven projects.

- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET-accredited institution
- PLUS five (5) years working experience in Engineering-related positions.
- A review of the degree program curriculum must be completed by Engineering department management.
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET-accredited institution
- PLUS eight (8) years working experience in Engineering-related positions.
- Approved Engineer degrees in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Structural.
- A review of the degree program curriculum must be completed by Engineering department management.
- Problem analysis/resolution techniques.
- Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices, methods, and safety standards in the area of applicable engineering discipline.
- Experience in the energy industry or a consulting services environment.
- Relevant experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, PLS-TOWER, and AutoCAD and/or Micro Station.
- Experience using RISA-3D and/or STAAD for structural analysis and design. Professional Engineer licensure.
- Functional understanding of AISC “Specification for Structural Steel Buildings”, ACI 318-14 “Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete”, and ASCE/SEI 7 “Minimum Design Loads for buildings and Other Structures”, ASCE/SEI 10 “Design of Latticed Steel Transmission Structures”, and ASCE/SEI 48 “Design of Steel Transmission Pole Structures”
- Functional understanding of NESC, EIA, ANSI, IEEE and GO95 Codes
