Job SummaryThe Reliability Engineer implements solutions to continuously improve plant reliability in the CF Industries Yazoo City Complex. Reporting to the Engineering MI Group, the Reliability Engineer will work across the Engineering, Maintenance, and Operation Departments to ensure fixed equipment Mechanical Integrity (MI) inspections, fabrication/testing activities, and quality assurance activities meet plant requirements. This work includes, but may not be limited to, coordinating and/or performing internal and external inspections of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, storage tanks, valves, pressure relieving devices, boilers, fired heaters, etc.
The successful candidate will require a working knowledge of applicable ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel and API codes/standards and their respective inspection requirements as they relate to fixed and rotating equipment. This position supports plant safety, reliability, and asset mechanical integrity through development of procedures, predictive/preventative maintenance strategies, and corrective action plans.
- Administration and implementation of the plant site NBIC "R" Stamp Quality Control System.
- Develop and implement the plant site Inspection Data Management System (IDMS).
- Support the corporate EHS Policy and Programs by incorporating the applicable requirements into plant programs.
- Continually evaluate ways to improve safety.
- Direct and supervise contractor NDE technicians and API inspectors during plant outages.
- Maintain and update plant mechanical integrity procedures to ensure compliance with CF standards and code requirements.
- Develop inspection plans and perform equipment mechanical integrity inspections as scheduled in the Mechanical Integrity program.
- Perform unscheduled opportunity equipment inspections as requested by operations, maintenance and engineering personnel per individual task, project or turnaround schedule.
- Review failure data and develop Top 10 Asset Mechanical Reliability lists and effectively communicate reliability issues and recommendations to management and other affected personnel.
- Conduct Root Cause Investigations of stationary or rotating equipment failures, conduct failure analysis, implement short- and long-term corrective actions, and report on findings to prevent recurrence.
- Design & implement predictive & preventive maintenance strategies for critical equipment.
- Provide recommendations for equipment condition monitoring and NDT inspection techniques.
- Work with engineering, maintenance, and operation teams, inspectors, and contractors to ensure repairs are performed according to codes/specifications and properly documented.
- Perform design or re‑rating calculations and technical evaluations as needed to ensure equipment is safe and reliable to operate.
- Assist in the specification and review of new equipment prior to purchase and recommend proper inspection test plans and selection of spare parts lists.
- Inspect, evaluate, and review newly installed equipment to assure proper installation and mechanical reliability.
- Provide technical support for emergency maintenance work off‑hours as needed.
- Assist the engineering, maintenance and operation departments with planning of site turnarounds, shutdowns, and special projects.
- Provide technical input with regards to development of job scopes and ordering of appropriate parts and materials.
- Be available for occasional travel within North America.
- Bachelor Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering field.
- Minimum of Two (2) years maintenance/reliability engineering experience in a chemical plant, refinery, or similar industry.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary project teams in preparation and implementation of capital projects or upgrades to machinery or equipment.
- Working knowledge of piping systems design and maintenance, pressure vessel design specifications and maintenance, storage tanks, relief devices, nondestructive testing techniques, and project management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Auto Cad, SAP or other CMMS.
- Working knowledge of industrial inspection codes & standards (API, ASME, ANSI, OSHA, State) related to stationary equipment.
- A Certification in either API 510/570/653 is preferred but not required.
- Must be able to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC).
- Must be able to prove drug and alcohol free at request.
