We are currently seeking a Structural Engineer to join the Energy and Resources team. The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects within the Energy and Resource sector ranging from studies to detail engineering and construction support for projects in North America and across the world. This role would provide an opportunity to be a part of a diverse team while focusing on technical growth and leading work related to Mining, Energy, and other heavy industrial infrastructure.

As a registered Professional Engineer, you will be responsible for structural engineering design and analysis under minimal supervision. You will make sound structural engineering decisions and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities- You are expected to understand and work according to the requirements of the Stantec Safety Culture and in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Stantec and its clients.
- Perform structural design and analysis to applicable codes. Typical structures include heavy industrial/energy infrastructure, steel structures, and concrete foundations. The work primarily supports Mining and Energy related projects.
- Develop designs through sketches, hand calculations, and structural analysis software models.
- Work with Engineers and Designers (CAD/BIM) on fit‑for‑purpose designs that meet the client’s needs and requests.
- Interface with other disciplines and project management to execute projects per the project plan.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to EITs and designers as part of their professional development, while taking an active role in your own career development.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects within Stantec’s quality control guidelines.
- Prepare and coordinate project specifications including construction documents.
- Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or clients.
- Travel to local project sites as needed.
- Registered P.E. in at least one state in the Western United States (i.e., Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, Texas) and the ability to get registered in additional states.
- Strong communication, coordination, and time‑management skills.
- Self‑starter with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to apply practical knowledge and make sound judgement to analyze issues, interpret information, and select methods and solutions to resolve design problems within standard practices and guidelines. Requisite knowledge and application of structural design codes (ASCE, AISC, ACI, etc.). Knowledge of specific codes and standards related to substation design such as ASCE MOP 113 2nd Edition, IEEE 693, IEEE 605 is an asset.

- Willingness to work on multiple jobs/projects at a time.
- Knowledge of and ability to use industry standard structural analysis software suites (STAAD.Pro or RISA 3D, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of mathematical computational tools such as Math Cad and the ability to perform detailed structural calculations within this environment.
