Position Summary
We are seeking a Hardware Verification & Validation (HW V&V) Engineer to support board-level hardware validation and automated test development in a lab environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with hardware interfaces, Python scripting, hardware debugging, and test automation. This role requires an individual who can work independently, collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, and drive test development from design through execution while ensuring high-quality documentation and traceability.
Key ResponsibilitiesHardware Validation & Test Development
- Develop, maintain, and debug Python-based hardware validation scripts for board-level and interface-level testing.
- Design and execute hardware verification and validation test procedures.
- Translate hardware requirements into automated test cases with clear pass/fail criteria.
- Support hardware bring-up activities and validation of embedded systems.
Hardware Interfaces & Lab Testing
- Perform validation using hardware interfaces such as:
- UART / RS-422 / RS-485
- SPI
- I2C
- GPIO
- Ethernet
- CAN (as applicable)
- Utilize laboratory equipment including:
- Oscilloscopes
- Logic analyzers
- Digital multimeters (DMM)
- Power supplies
- Signal generators
Debugging & Troubleshooting
- Investigate and resolve failures related to hardware, firmware, and Python test scripts.
- Isolate issues between hardware defects, software defects, and test environment problems.
- Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
Software Development & Automation
- Develop clean, modular, and maintainable Python code.
- Implement robust logging, timeout handling, retries, and error recovery.
- Use Git for version control and participate in code reviews.
- Support automated test execution and continuous integration (CI) workflows.
Documentation & Traceability
- Maintain requirement-to-test traceability.
- Generate validation reports, logs, test evidence, and execution summaries.
- Document test environments, setup procedures, troubleshooting guides, and known issues.
- Share best practices and technical knowledge across engineering teams.
Collaboration & Ownership
- Own validation activities from test design through execution and closure.
- Coordinate with multiple product teams to resolve technical issues.
- Provide regular project status updates.
- Continuously improve test coverage, automation reliability, and execution efficiency.
- Python scripting for hardware verification and validation
- Hardware interface experience (UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, Ethernet, CAN, RS-422/RS-485)
- Hardware debugging and troubleshooting
- Verification & Validation (V&V) test development and execution
- Experience using laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, power supplies)
- Experience developing and executing hardware verification and validation test procedures.
- Strong Python programming skills for hardware automation.
- Hands-on experience with board-level hardware testing and debugging.
- Proficiency with common communication interfaces and embedded hardware protocols.
- Experience using electronic laboratory equipment for hardware validation.
- Familiarity with Git and software development best practices.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
