Responsibilities

  • Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of contract documents, engineering drawings, isometrics, and specifications.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for piping, structural steel, equipment, and related mechanical systems.
  • Develop labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and indirect cost pricing.
  • Lead pricing of project-specific general requirements and project expenses.
  • Analyze project risks, opportunities, escalation factors, and contingencies.
  • Lead internal estimate reviews, bid strategy meetings, and estimating teams.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, operations, and project management teams.
  • Establish estimate schedules and critical path timelines.
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of process flows, P&’s, process piping, concrete systems, mechanical equipment installations, and industrial construction methods. Proficiency with Bluebeam, Excel.
  • Knowledge of mechanical codes, ASME, API, AISC specifications, productivity standards, and procurement strategies.
  • Complete estimate turnover, bid recap, and trade buyout strategies with operations.
  • Support project turnover and successful handoff to construction teams.
  • 8-15+ years of mechanical estimating experience.
  • Experience leading estimates and pursuits on projects ranging from $25M to $500M+.
  • Experience estimating industrial, power, manufacturing, energy, data center, or large industrial projects.
  • Experience across hard bid/lump sum, GMP, construction management, reimbursable, and design-build delivery methods.
  • Expert in understanding and teaching contract terms for various delivery models and able to identify contract risks and opportunities.
  • Understands different bid processes and contract delivery type methods:
    Hard bid/lump sum, guaranteed maximum price (GMP), unit price, design-build, target prices and construction management/cost reimbursable.
  • Ability to lead successful teams.
  • Resourceful and self-motivated with strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Strong ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with owners, peers and industry representatives, and leverage the industry relationships for a competitive advantage.
