Senior Advanced Project Engineer – FAA Certified Avionics Systems
Exciting Opportunity within the Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) organization!
As a Senior Advanced Project Engineer – FAA Certified Avionics Systems here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will play a critical role in leading and managing engineering projects across the global CNS domain. You will be responsible for defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with cross‑functional teams. By developing and implementing project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, you will ensure efficient project execution and delivery.
Your expertise in project management and technical engineering will contribute to successful project outcomes and drive operational excellence. You will report directly to our Director of Project Engineering, and you'll work out of our Deer Valley, Arizona location on a hybrid work schedule.
The CNS team is a large global team based out of Deer Valley, Arizona with design teams in Minneapolis, Minnesota;
Bangalore, India;
Hyderabad, India;
Brno, Czech Republic; and Beijing, China. The CNS team designs, builds, and maintains some of the world’s most valued safety systems within the aerospace industry. The product line spans from weather, radar, ground proximity warning systems, instrumented landing systems, communication, datalink and navigation radios, transponders, traffic collision avoidance systems and radar altimeters.
- Lead teams in development of proposals, statements of work and associated cost estimates.
- Serve as the technical point of contact for customers and the program manager.
- Define and implement project scope, objectives, deliverables, prepare schedules and resource forecasting in Microsoft Project.
- Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to timelines and budgets using Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics.
- Lead a robust risk management process to identify and mitigate risks and issues that may impact project delivery.
- Contain scope growth through robust baseline change management.
- Coordinate and communicate with stakeholders to provide project updates and address concerns.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project management processes and practices.

QualificationsYOU MUST HAVE
- Minimum 6 years of experience in project engineering developing FAA certified avionics systems for the aerospace market.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
- Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)
- Ability to lead teams to fast, practical solutions using Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams.
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Adaptability and flexibility to manage changing project requirements.
- Passion for innovation and continuous learning.
- Willingness to travel to customer and internal Honeywell meetings both domestic and international.
- Advanced degree preferred.
