Sedgman - FSI Engineering is currently looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our growing business in Phoenix, Arizona. This individual will be responsible for the electrical engineering and design development on heavy industrial projects in the metals & mining industry, as well as the Power Generation, Power Distribution, Industrial, Chemical, and Manufacturing industries. Our ideal candidate will have professional registration as an electrical engineer and a solid understanding of Instrumentation & Controls to read, review, and sign off on prints.

What does this role involve? Key responsibilities
  • Perform electrical engineering design for heavy industrial projects (metal and mining facilities, power generation & distribution, chemical, industrial, etc.) and associated infrastructure.
  • Prepare electrical equipment specifications, datasheets, and scopes of work, ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
  • Develop proposals and conceptual designs for the Pre‑F, Feasibility and Detail engineering phases of projects.
  • Work across a continuous succession of projects, domestic and international, through the project lifecycle from concept, feasibility, detailed design, construction, commissioning to operations.
  • Liaise with internal and external clients, other discipline professionals, and stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate, and cost‑effective delivery.
  • Demonstrate a high standard of personal safety and integrate safety in design practices.
What are we looking for? Qualifications
  • A 4‑year ABET‑accredited bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (FE).
  • Passed the Principles & Practice of Engineering exam (PE) and holds a professional PE designation (ASPE in Arizona).
  • 5–8+ years of relevant experience as an electrical engineer.
  • Expert level LV power transmission and distribution systems experience; solid knowledge of MV systems.
  • Experience in an engineering design/consultancy environment preferred; prior experience in industrial processing / mining and metals considered an asset.
  • Foundations / proficiency with instrumentation and control systems in industrial applications.
  • Ability to self‑manage time, priorities, and activities efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, technical competence, and attention to detail.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States of America without sponsorship.
