A well-established power engineering consultancy is continuing to expand its U.S. business and is seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer to join its growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and wants to work on some of the most exciting projects shaping the future of the grid, including large-scale data centers, renewable generation, conventional generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and transmission infrastructure.
The Role:
You'll play a key role in delivering technically complex power system studies, supporting clients through the interconnection process and helping ensure reliable integration of new loads and generation onto the grid.
Working alongside a highly experienced team of power systems specialists, you'll contribute to projects from initial system modeling through technical analysis and final reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform transmission and distribution power system studies for utility, developer, and industrial clients.
- Develop and maintain power system models for generation and large load interconnections.
- Deliver a range of technical studies, including:
- Load Flow
- Dynamic Stability
- Protection Coordination (where applicable)
- Prepare high-quality technical reports and engineering recommendations.
- Support generator and large load interconnection studies across multiple ISOs and utilities.
- Work closely with senior engineers on technically challenging transmission and power system projects.
- Contribute to the continuous development of study methodologies and engineering best practices.
Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience performing power system studies within a utility, engineering consultancy, developer, OEM, or independent engineering firm.
- Strong understanding of transmission planning and generator or large load interconnection processes.
Experience with industry-standard software such as:
- PSCAD
- PSLF
- ETAP
- Power Factory
- Experience delivering load flow, fault, stability, and/or EMT studies.
- Strong technical report writing and analytical skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Conventional generation
- Transmission planning
- Utility consulting
- Grid modernization
