Virtual Design & Data Solutions Staff Civil Engineering Technician
Duration: 6 month contract, with potential conversion to full-time, based on performance and client need. Location Type:
Overland Park, KS, Denver, CO, Houston, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Tualatin, OR Compensation Range: $40.00 HR - $46.45 HR W2 Medical, Dental and Vision benefits are made available after 90 days. There are no additional benefits provided during the contract period (no PTO, no Paid Holidays, etc.).
Position Summary:
The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Staff Civil Engineering Technician plays a vital role in the delivery of high-quality engineering deliverables for these complex infrastructure projects, working alongside a collaborative and experienced team of professionals. Under general supervision, this role performs technical civil engineering design tasks requiring advanced knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices. The position provides technical guidance to engineering professionals and technicians to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with design standards across project deliverables.
Key responsibilities include the preparation and modification of site plans, grading designs, and utility layouts. Work is performed using advanced, industry-standard design tools such as Autodesk Civil 3D, PVcase and PVFarm.
Responsibilities:
- Functions in a project engineering technician capacity.
- Under general direction, supports engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables.
- Applies foundational engineering principles and established design practices to create moderately complex design concepts and solutions.
- Utilizes digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
- Provides technical guidance and may offer direction to other engineering professionals and technicians to ensure quality and consistency across project outputs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
- Experience with Civil 3D grading
- Autodesk Civil 3D
Preferred but not required:
- Solar experience
- PVcase and PV Farm software experience
Education:
Preferred Qualifications
Diploma or Certificate required. Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
- Typically a minimum of 5 years related work experience.
