What We Are Looking For

Administers corrosion control program for region. Accountable for related activities, including design, installation, operation, and maintenance of all corrosion control facilities for maximum efficiency and safety. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures mandated by state and federal pipeline safety regulations.

The onsite office location could be in:
Colton, CA;
Carson, CA;
Mission Valley, CA;
Phoenix, AZ; or Tucson, AZ terminal.

What You Will Do
  • Supervises regional corrosion control program in order to achieve goals within budgeted funds and available personnel.
  • Plans projects, reviews progress, directs changes in priorities and schedules as needed to assure work is completed in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Supervise activities of corrosion supervisors and technicians and participates in the selection/promotion of staff, salary change considerations, and disciplinary matters.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and resolves grievances. Provides training and motivation to make full use of individual capabilities and to meet changing system demands. Orients new employees as to procedures, policies, location and operation of equipment or assigns such orientation and familiarization to the corrosion supervisor.
  • Coordinates annual refresher, safety and emergency response training for corrosion personnel.
  • Develops and administers capital and maintenance budgets based on staffing and resource requirements, cost estimates, objectives and goals.
  • Monitors, documents and reports expenditures assuring compliance with approved budget and staffing levels.
  • Designs corrosion monitoring and cathodic protection systems including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Coordinates work with departments responsible for contracts, environmental compliance and right-of-way procurement.
  • Prepares contract drawings, specifications and bid invitations when outside contractors are to be used.
  • Plans, coordinates, and directs jobs, determines priority of corrosion control projects and installation of protective measures.
  • Consults Director on major projects, budget proposals, and priorities.
  • Supports Corporate and/or Engineering departments as required.
  • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with local, regional, and national NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) organizations.
  • Delegates and reviews Company's notifications to various agencies, companies, & committees of corrosion protection systems. Participate in regulatory audits and present regional corrosion program.
  • Maintains required records, including assembly, compilation and review of reports. reviews computer data and generates reports. Reviews as-built drawings and annual survey data. Make corrections as needed and forwards modified drawings to drafting department for recording changes. Analyzes field test data from annual and interim surveys and determines best corrective action.
  • Investigates corrosion problems in the field through survey work and/or research and may coordinate some activities with other Corrosion Engineers/Technicians and/or vendors when necessary.
  • Resolves cathodic protection and interference problems, as well as any system adjustments. Implements corrective action through corrosion and maintenance personnel or oversees work of outside contractor.
  • Coordinates and directs Corrosion Supervisor/Technicians and contracted services.
Education

What You Need

  • 10 years of corrosion-related experience with at least five years of responsible charge with the design, construction, monitoring, and troubleshooting of complex corrosion control systems. Must have good planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Requires good written and oral communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Science, or related field from an accredited school or relevant work experience that has developed equivalent engineering skills.
