Summary

Reliability Engineer I / II | Balance of Plant (BOP) – Cooling & Water Systems

We're looking for a motivated Balance of Plant Engineer to support the cooling and water systems that are critical to safe and reliable power plant operations. In this role, you'll partner with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot issues, support outages, and help improve system reliability and efficiency.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem solving, learning plant systems, and building technical expertise in a collaborative environment.

Key Skills & Responsibilities
  • System Reliability – Monitor and support the health and performance of cooling water systems and other mechanical plant equipment.
  • Troubleshooting – Assist in diagnosing and resolving equipment and system issues to support safe, reliable operations.
  • Outage Support – Provide engineering support during planned and forced outages.
  • Maintenance Planning – Support maintenance strategies, equipment assessments, and long-term reliability initiatives.
  • Design & Technical Reviews – Participate in evaluating plant modifications, technical documents, and equipment upgrades.
  • Collaboration – Work closely with operations, maintenance, environmental, and engineering teams to implement solutions.
  • Documentation & Analysis – Maintain engineering reports, equipment records, and reliability data.

  • Plus
    two (2) years working experience in Engineering-related positions.
Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications
  • Knowledge and ability to apply basic discipline engineering principles, practices and theories and use commonly applied engineering approaches and calculations.
  • Problem analysis/resolution techniques.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices, methods and safety standards in the area of applicable engineering discipline.

Approved Engineer degrees:
Materials Science/Metallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Computer Science, Environmental, Chemical, Structural. (A four-year bachelor of Engineering Technology degree is not considered an automatic equivalent for a B.S. degree in Engineering. A review of the degree program curriculum must be completed by Engineering department management.)

Major Accountabilities
  • 1) Assists in the analysis and preparation of a variety of data, technical reviews and evaluations, trend analyses, short to long-range technology assessments, products and services, investigations, product/specification verifications to aid decision making. May present findings to a diverse group of management, internal staff, customers, vendors, etc.
