Micro Station Designer
- Transportation/Utilities Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Micro Station Designer specializing in transportation and utilities projects. The role involves using CAD Design and Micro Station for various design tasks related to roadway engineering projects, with the potential for long-term employment.
ResponsibilitiesDesign, plan, and inspect components of roadway engineering projects.
Prepare conceptual and detailed plans, specifications, and estimates for public works construction projects.
Coordinate and review project phases including engineering reports, calculations, plans, and special provisions in accordance with public works standards and codes.
Conduct technical engineering analysis of proposed projects, evaluate design changes, and make recommendations.
Develop drafting plans and technical drawings, and perform computing work as required.
Participate in the development of project design concepts and criteria.
Maintain project files and document design and project management decisions.
Write analytical reports and make technical estimates.
Review project deliverables and assess scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Four years of professional civil engineering work experience.
Experience using Micro Station, InRoads, and Open Roads Designer.
Experience in designing roadway-related projects.
Strong experience with Micro Station.
Experience working with State DOT standards and requirements, including roadway design manuals, specifications, and permitting processes.
Knowledge of roadway geometric design principles, including horizontal and vertical alignments, cross-sections, intersections, and ADA compliance requirements.
Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Strong understanding of engineering documentation and quality control procedures.
Experience preparing construction documents and cost estimates for transportation or public infrastructure projects.
Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency with GIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or other transportation design software in addition to Micro Station/Open Roads.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports and present design recommendations.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $51.00/hr.
