Environmental Health and Safety Specialist
This role provides expert EHS leadership across a variety of operations, processes and emerging technologies, ensuring safe, compliant, and reliable solutions. By partnering with key stakeholders, the position strengthens organizational resilience through consistent hazard-control strategies, technical safety communications, Management of Change governance support, and participation in safety incident investigations and review boards. Ultimately, it enables innovation while reducing risk, advancing compliance, and reinforcing a strong safety culture that supports mission-critical processes.
What You Will Do
- Provide subject matter expertise on emerging technologies-including but not limited to lithium ion batteries, high voltage systems, automation/robotics, and novel materials-and how associated risks intersect with EHS compliance and safe operation.
- Serve as the primary EHS liaison to Product Safety and the Office of the Chief Engineer ensuring collaboration and alignment on EHS compliance
- Partner closely with Engineering Lab Management to ensure safe work processes.
- Coordinate EHS support of Failure Review Boards (FRB), providing independent safety oversight, input on root cause analysis, and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Coordinate EHS support of Engineering Safety Review Boards, collaborating with engineering leadership on risk identification, mitigation, and acceptance.
- Support EHS Management of Change (MOC) process, including review of new processes, equipment, test setups, materials, and facility modifications.
- Develop and support EHS bulletins, safety communications, and incident related learnings to be shared across engineering and operational organizations.
- Support cross site and cross functional EHS program implementation, ensuring consistency of hazard control strategies and alignment with OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, military standards, and Raytheon requirements.
- Conduct or support investigations involving emerging technologies; collaborate on root cause analysis and corrective action development.
- Provide guidance to engineering teams on hazard analyses, risk assessments, and mitigations.
- Support internal audits, customer audits, and corporate assessments covering engineering, laboratory, and high hazard operations.
- Mentor EHS and engineering personnel on safety engineering concepts, control methodologies, and regulatory interpretations.
- Will travel domestically and internationally approximately 25%

Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years' experience
- Minimum of 10 years of combined experience in EHS, systems engineering, product safety, or engineering operations.
- U.S. Citizenship is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
