Our scope of services includes engineering design, high-tech factory planning, and on-time equipment and material delivery in which clean-room systems, HVAC, electrical systems, and tool hook-up, are all vital parts in need of total coordination.
Summary: Join a team supporting fire protection systems within an active operating facility at one of the most advanced semiconductor fabrication sites in Arizona. As part of a historic $265 billion investment in U.S. semiconductor production and the largest foreign direct investment in American history, this position supports the testing, maintenance, reliability and continuous improvement of systems that protect personnel and critical fab operations.
The ideal engineering candidate is proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable taking ownership of projects within an active semiconductor fabrication environment including coordinating subcontractors and communicating with personnel at all levels of the organization, coordinating with city officials to include facilitating testing with city fire inspectors. Success in this role requires strong communication, organization, and attention to detail, along with the ability to lead and drive projects from initial planning through final completion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Engineering
and System Upgrades/Modifications:
- Support fire protection system upgrades, modifications, repairs, and expansion projects within active semiconductor fabrication facilities.
- Review fire protection drawings, specifications, submittals, calculations and related project documentation prepared by contractors and design teams.
- Evaluate proposed system modifications for compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, site standards, and operational objectives.
- Support facility improvements and technology upgrades affecting fire protection systems.
- Coordinate and facilitate system testing, inspections, and acceptance activities with contractors and City of Phoenix.
- Support the evaluation, troubleshooting, and resolution of fire protection deficiencies.
- Learn and develop and maintain familiarity with fire protection systems, semiconductor fabrication operations, applicable codes, and industry standards.
Code Compliance:
- Assist in ensuring that fire protection designs and installations comply with applicable local, state, and national codes (e.g., NFPA, IBC, IFC).
- Support the review of architectural and engineering drawings to help identify and address fire safety concerns.
- Learn and maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and revisions.
Project Management:
- Assist in coordination with architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Support preparation of proposals, budgets, and schedules.
- Assist in coordinating fire protection system installations.
- Participate in site inspections.
- Assist in preparing reports and documentation.
Communication and
Collaboration:
- Assist in communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Participate in project meetings and presentations.
- Support providing technical assistance to clients, contractors, and team members.
- Contribute to a collaborative and productive team environment.
Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Education:A bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience:0-1 plus years of experience in fire protection engineering design and project management.
