As a Lead Project Engineer
- Turboshaft Engines, here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will be responsible for managing and executing engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, and you will play a key role in driving project success through effective planning, coordination, and communication .
You will report directly to our Sr. Program Engineering Manager, and you’ll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a hybrid work schedule.
In this role, you will impact the successful execution and delivery of complex engineering projects, driving operational excellence, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Responsibilities- Lead the design, development, test and in-service support activity, on schedule, on budget and in compliance with all technical requirements
- Serve as the single point engineering leader for the assigned scope
- Lead a diverse cross functional team to accomplish the scope
- Escalate effectively with leadership and cross-functionally across the organization
- Strong commitment to customer satisfaction
- Bias toward creative thinking and innovation in product design and approach to everyday work
- Implement design-to-cost and variation-reduction strategies
- Promote and build strong team working relationships
- Manage within very difficult resource constraints
- Identify gaps and risks on behalf of the team
- Balance workload of the team members
- Monitor work of team members to recognize when they are "stuck" or "off track"
- Leverage technical experts to review the technical work of the team
- Lead trade studies and RCCA activities
- Communicate project status with internal and external customers
- Guide and develop early career engineers
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
- 8+ years directly related engineering experience in the design, development, manufacture, and/or test of gas turbine engines or similarly complex mechanical systems
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex engineering projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related technical discipline
- Prior experience leading gas turbine engine design, development and support activities
- Experience with project management tools and methods relevant to leading engineering projects
- Demonstrated bias for action and ability to work independently
- Prioritizes time and resources effectively
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrix organization to accomplish technical objectives under strict schedule constraints
