About the RoleThe Manufacturing Engineer II is an individual contributor role within General Assembly Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and reports to a Manufacturing Engineering leader. This role exists to support Lucid's growth by strengthening equipment procurement, integration, validation, and launch readiness for General Assembly programs. In the first 12 months, this person will own assigned equipment and tooling projects from scope development through validated production handoff, with success measured by safe installation, capable processes, clear documentation, on-time issue closure, and readiness for Operations ownership.
A strong candidate will gain hands-on accountability across the full manufacturing equipment lifecycle, including supplier technical alignment, factory and site acceptance, launch troubleshooting, and lessons learned that directly shape future high-volume EV production systems.
- Equipment Strategy:
Define equipment and tooling scopes, technical specifications, and RFQ packages that align safety, quality, cycle time, throughput, maintainability, timing, and cost requirements before supplier award. - Supplier Alignment:
Evaluate supplier proposals, lead technical clarification, and partner with Purchasing to support supplier selection, purchase-order execution, commercial alignment, and on-time delivery. - Project Execution:
Lead assigned equipment projects from design approval through build, Factory Acceptance Testing, shipment, installation, commissioning, ramp-up, and final acceptance. - Launch Readiness:
Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, risk registers, open-issue lists, recovery plans, and escalation paths to keep equipment launches on track. - Cross-Functional Integration:
Coordinate Product Design, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, Facilities, Supply Chain, and supplier partners to resolve technical and launch issues with clear ownership and timely decisions. - Process Validation:
Define and confirm acceptance criteria for safety, ergonomics, quality, cycle time, throughput, maintainability, and specification compliance before handoff to Operations. - Operational Handoff:
Deliver validated equipment, process documentation, training inputs, spare-parts requirements, open-item closure plans, and lessons learned that improve future launch execution.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 4 years of manufacturing engineering experience in assembly operations, equipment integration, production launch, or a related manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of assembly processes, tooling, automation, equipment integration, and production-launch execution.
- Experience preparing technical documentation or RFQ inputs and supporting design reviews, acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, or operational handoff.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position, including understanding work instructions, safety procedures, and job-related communications.
