We are SLR Consulting (Americas), a 1500+ team of advisory, environmental, engineering, and regulatory professionals across Canada, the United States, and LATAM. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. We are Making Sustainability Happen. As our new Principal Mine Permitting & NEPA Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in guiding high‑profile natural resource and mining projects in Arizona and the Southwestern states with opportunities to expand across other U.S. regions.

This is a senior, client‑facing role where your strategic leadership on high‑profile projects will shape the future of responsible resource development. You’ll leverage your technical expertise and deep industry experience to influence regulators, engage stakeholders, and guide multi‑disciplinary teams. You will bring deep experience navigating complex federal and state regulatory frameworks to manage multidisciplinary regulatory projects and guide major natural resource projects to successful approval.

In addition, you will play a significant role in growing our mining business and our team of environmental professionals in the Southwest U.S. region. You will lead consulting projects for key mining clients, mentor rising talent, and foster a culture of quality and excellence.

The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Be a trusted advisor to the mining industry, as well as reputable working relationship with regulators and stakeholders
  • Possess strong technical expertise in NEPA, permitting and compliance for the mining industry
  • Exhibit deep knowledge of the US federal and state specific environmental regulations applicable to the mining industry
  • Have a proven and sustained record of successful business development, client relationship management, and proposal management for the mining industry with demonstrated sales growth
  • Maintain a strong network of mining industry contacts, as well as other business contacts and potential team partners (e.g., legal, or analytical service providers) in the mining industry
  • Collaborate with SLR mining sector leaders across the Americas and globally to develop cross‑selling strategies, evaluate client needs and follow market changes to identify opportunities for growth
  • Mentor, coach, and develop senior and junior staff across disciplines, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and accountability
  • Represent SLR in public forums, regulatory hearings, and industry associations
  • Provide high‑level project management oversight, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget are consistently achieved

Success in this role means establishing yourself as a trusted advisor to consultants, clients, and regulators, strengthening and growing SLR’s regulatory environment capabilities, driving business development, driving delivery, fostering cross‑disciplinary collaboration, and representing SLR as a thought leader in the industry.
