Job overviewThe Field Service Engineer is responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of company systems and equipment at customer sites. This role serves as the primary technical interface between the company and clients, ensuring system reliability, quality performance, and customer satisfaction.
The position requires strong hands-on technical capability, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage field activities, supervise onsite personnel, and support new engineering projects and applications.
General Responsibilities Client Coordination & Technical Support- Coordinate with client sponsors and facility stakeholders regarding system service and performance.
- Communicate technical issues, service findings, and improvement recommendations clearly.
- Provide on-call and emergency response support to resolve system issues at customer sites.
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of onsite systems and equipment.
- Ensure proper operation and uptime of installed monitoring and engineering systems.
- Oversee technical improvements, upgrades, and repair activities.
- Prepare service reports, maintenance records, and technical documentation.
- Submit updates and service data into the company ERP or service management system.
- Support system installation, commissioning, and implementation of engineering designs.
- Conduct system testing, feasibility verification, and performance validation.
- Research new technologies, applications, and project requirements to support engineering development.
- Supervise and coordinate onsite technicians, subcontractors, and field work activities.
- Ensure work execution aligns with safety standards, engineering specifications, and project schedules.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Systems, or a related field Required; equivalent experience may be accepted upon review.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Systems, or a related field Preferred; equivalent experience accepted upon review.
- 2+ years of field service, construction, or semiconductor facility support experience.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, filtration systems, equipment installation, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly to changing onsite needs.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices (OSHA, cleanroom protocols, construction safety).
- Hands-on experience with instrumentation, monitoring systems, gas/chemical systems, PLC/controls, or facility equipment is a plus.
- Experience working in semiconductor fabs, cleanroom environments, or industrial process systems is a plus.
- Experience using ERP systems, CMMS, or service reporting tools.
- Construction site environment with exposure to dust, noise, extreme temperatures, and large equipment.
- May require standing, walking, or climbing for extended periods.
- Use of appropriate PPE is required at all times on-site.
