BIM Technician – Piping / Process Piping (High-Tech / Semiconductor Facilities)

This BIM Technician role focuses on piping and process piping design within complex high-tech environments such as semiconductor facilities, data centers, and other industrial projects. You will use Revit and AutoCAD to develop detailed MEP models and construction documents, with a particular emphasis on gas distribution systems (GDS) and electrical distribution, power, and lighting systems. The position is fully on-site and offers meaningful opportunities for growth within a busy, fast-paced MEP BIM department.

• Develop detailed BIM models for piping and process piping systems, with a focus on gas distribution systems (GDS) in high-tech and semiconductor facilities.
• Produce complete and accurate design documentation and construction documents using common standards and in accordance with Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) code requirements to support building permit approvals.
• Perform building load calculations in accordance with NEC and IECC guidelines.
• Design emergency and standby generator systems as part of overall electrical and power distribution solutions.
• Design electrical distribution, power, and lighting systems, including medium voltage system design as a plus.
• Create and coordinate distribution layouts, one-line diagrams, lighting layouts, and lighting control systems.
• Coordinate project requirements closely with project managers and team leadership to ensure alignment with scope, schedule, and quality expectations.
• Communicate project status, issues, and concerns with team leadership in a timely and proactive manner.
• Collaborate with in-house and external design team members to deliver a high-quality, fully coordinated design.
• Conduct pre-design site visits and perform as-built documentation to capture existing conditions accurately.
• Attend off-site meetings as required to support project coordination and stakeholder communication.
• Work consistently within established standards and QC/QA practices to maintain design quality and compliance.
• Apply a strong understanding of the construction process to ensure that models and drawings are practical, buildable, and aligned with field conditions.
• Use Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD to create and update BIM models and construction documents for MEP systems.
• Leverage tools such as Bluebeam, Outlook, Word, and Excel to support documentation, communication, and project coordination.
• Support visual design and architectural coordination for MEP systems within semiconductor, data center, and other commercial projects.
• Work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment, contributing to a growing and winning MEP BIM department.

• Minimum of 1 year of Revit experience on semiconductor, data center, or other high-tech MEP projects.
• Approximately 5+ years of experience in electrical design within the consulting engineering industry.
• Hands-on experience with piping or process piping design in a BIM environment, including understanding of pipe routing for gas distribution systems (GDS).
• Proficiency with Autodesk Revit for MEP modeling and Revit Architecture for coordinated building models.
• Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD for drafting and construction document production.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design within high-tech or industrial facilities.
• Ability to understand project scope of work and translate it into complete, detailed design documentation that meets AHJ code requirements.
• Familiarity with NFPA National Electrical Code and International Building Codes.
• Working knowledge of IECC requirements and the use of Com Check for energy code compliance.
