JOB SUMMARY

Assist the head of the Risk Management Department in overseeing assigned risk areas, including market, liquidity, operational risk, or a combination thereof. Utilizes appropriate risk management tools to identify, measure, control, and monitor risks. Coordinates with various departments or units within the bank on risk-related matters within the designated areas. Prepares reports for the Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) and provides secretarial support for ARC meetings.

Other related tasks may be assigned as needed.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Management
    • Supports the Head in developing both short-term and long-term strategic plans for the Risk Management Department (RMD) setting targets and evaluating performance against objectives.
    • Delivers lectures and training sessions on risk management promote risk awareness and education.
  • Operations
    • Oversees the development, review, update, and dissemination of risk management policies and procedures related to market, liquidity, and operational risks, ensuring alignment with the Basel risk management framework, which includes risk identification, measurement, control, and monitoring.
    • Represents the Risk Management Department (RMD) in projects, meetings, work groups, and forums focused on risk management within and beyond the bank.
    • Conducts ongoing research on risk management developments and best practices for potential implementation within the organization.
    • Engages with the Board of Directors, department heads, and external contacts, including Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), to discuss risk management matters.
Monitoring and Reporting
  • Prepares and presents relevant risk reports and analyses to the Audit and Risk Committee (ARC).
  • Proposes enhancement and revisions to existing internal controls for consideration by the ARC.

Must-Have Competencies

  • Liquidity and Operational Risk Management Expertise:
    Applies practical and advanced knowledge in both liquidity and operational risk domains. Ensures accurate risk assessments, implementation of control, and compliance with applicable frameworks (e.g., Basel, BSP) supporting sound decisions at the unit level.
  • Analytical Thinking and Decision-Making:
    The ability to gather, interpret, and analyze complex risk data, trends, and incidents. Uses sound judgment identify root causes, recommend mitigation strategies, and make decisions that align with the institutional risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
  • Policy and Process Implementation and Monitoring:
    Implements risk policies and ensures adherence to department standards across the unit or domain. Monitors the application of controls, collaborates across departments for consistent governance, and provides input to policy improvements.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge:
    The ability to interpret and apply relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., BSP, Basel, IFRS) and internal policies in risk activities. Ensures full compliance and alignment with governance frameworks, audit expectations, and supervisory standards.

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: the ability to collaborate with the internal stakeholders, committees, and regulators. Communication risk assessments, strategies, and concerns clearly and constructively, Promotes awareness and alignment with the risk objectives across the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelors degree in the Accountancy, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Masters degree or MBA is an advantage but not required.

Professional Certifications

  • Basic Risk Management certification (e.g., BSP risk training, FRM level
    1)
  • CPA or related certification are an advantage

Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in credit and/or operational risk
  • With at least 2 years in a supervisory or specialist role in risk management
  • Hands‑on experience coordinating with business units, assisting in ARC reporting, and supporting regulatory compliance

Other Requirements

  • Strong understanding of BSP regulations, credit risk rating systems, operational risk tools, and internal controls within area of assignment.
