About the Role:
As an IAS Associate Investment Consultant, you will provide investment advisory support to retirement plan clients by compiling financial, economic, and plan-specific data for client investment reports. You will independently evaluate investment performance, portfolio construction, and conduct manager due diligence. Your expertise will help develop strategic recommendations that align with client objectives, fiduciary standards, and regulatory requirements. This role requires professional judgment in monitoring client portfolios, interpreting market conditions, implementing investment policy statements, and advising on investment strategy and risk management.
What You'll Do:
- Analyze, develop, present, and implement investment strategies tailored to client objectives and plan design.
- Evaluate investment performance, portfolio structure, and asset quality; recommend changes when results fall outside due diligence guidelines.
- Review investment options and participant utilization; suggest proactive enhancements, additions, or removals.
- Deliver ongoing investment reviews and support an assigned client base, including developing retention strategies for at-risk clients.
- Assess economic conditions and financial markets; communicate relevant insights and impacts on client investments.
- Collaborate with recordkeepers and internal partners to support day-to-day client service.
- Partner with Senior Investment Consultants on large client relationships; attend client meetings and support the preparation and delivery of client deliverables.
- Provide asset allocation guidance to Defined Benefit clients, including participation in asset/liability studies and quarterly portfolio rebalancing.
- Interpret, implement, and monitor investment policy statements for assigned clients.
- Support client relationship management by periodically meeting with clients and identifying opportunities to cross sell additional USI services.
- Participate in internal committees and maintain accurate client records for Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution plans.
- Comply with all USI Advisors and Securities policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- 2+ years of investment performance measurement experience; exposure to mutual and institutional funds preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Business, Finance, or Accounting required; advanced degree a plus.
- Series 65 required.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; ability to quickly learn new software and systems.
- Working knowledge of retirement plans, pension programs, and funding structures.
- Strong financial and business acumen with a client-focused mindset.
- Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable presenting to small audiences.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team environment.
