Payments Fraud Analytics Lead
Lead the bank's fraud prevention and risk management activities for payment systems to mitigate exposure to fraudulent activities for the bank and its clients.
OverviewThe Payments Fraud Analytics Lead evaluates industry, client, and situational threat trends by payment type and across channels. The manager is responsible for ongoing analytics and recommendations that are presented enterprise‑wide, supporting new products such as Zelle and debit card enhancements.
Responsibilities- Develop the bank’s payment fraud strategy to minimize fraud losses.
- Assess trends impacting payment fraud and provide real‑time recommendations to mitigate potential fraud against the bank and clients.
- Define, formulate, and create complex analytical models to assess fraud activity within specific payment systems and across systems.
- Serve as the bank’s payments fraud knowledge expert and accountable for developing the payments fraud strategy; actively participate in key payment initiatives.
- Perform complex analysis and modeling to identify patterns of fraudulent transactions and prevent fraudulent usage of ATMs, debit/credit cards, wires, and future payment types such as Zelle.
- Create, test, and implement rule criteria in detection systems (VCAS, VRM, TSYS, BAE, etc.) while balancing fraud prevention with client experience; update recommendations as needed 24/7/365.
- Analyze loss data and recommend/implement loss prevention strategies; evaluate fraud cases holistically to identify trends and improvement areas.
- Participate in development of fraud policies and risk management activities, supporting business units across the bank.
- Develop executive key performance metrics and report them to senior management and enterprise risk managers.
- Create and deliver reports to clients; implement analysis tools and forecast processes that provide actionable global information.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Minimum five years of financial services experience with deep knowledge of payment systems; proven ability to work in an enterprise‑wide role and lead through influence.
- Minimum three years with Falcon (or comparable system) fraud strategy and rule writing.
- Minimum three years of experience using reporting/query tools such as Brio, MS Query, MS Access, Excel, Crystal Reports or Business Objects and Falcon scoring.
Additional Preferred Skills
- Strong analytical, interpretive and problem‑solving skills for large data sets with operational and financial impact.
- Preferred seven years of financial services experience and 5 years with Falcon fraud strategy and rule writing.
- Preferred 5 years of experience using reporting/query tools (Brio, MS Query, etc.) and Falcon scoring.
- Ability to create and maintain complex mathematical models.
- Outstanding communication skills; able to present to senior executives and staff.
- Judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
- Comprehensive knowledge of risk principles and procedures.
- Synthesize large quantities of data into concise presentations with sound business conclusions.
- Knowledge of PC environments, data warehouses, and reporting tools.
- Experience with FICO Falcon Fraud Manager strategy writing a plus.
- Effective interaction with all levels of bank personnel and customers.
- Ability to work in a high‑productive, deadline‑oriented environment.
- Flexibility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Starting base salary: $101,231 – $172,355 per year (exact amount varies with skills, experience and location). Eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
