Interim Director of Finance

Job Overview

Vaco has partnered with a mission-driven nonprofit organization that is in search of an experienced Interim Director of Finance to support finance operations during a leadership transition. This role will provide hands‑on accounting and finance leadership. The ideal candidate will bring strong nonprofit expertise and the ability to lead the team in a hybrid environment.

Interim Director of Finance

Location:

Phoenix, AZ (hybrid – onsite Monday through Wednesday)

Pay Rate: $60 – $75 per hour DOE

Project Duration: 3 months (potential contract‑to‑hire)

• Oversee all U.S. finance and accounting operations, including general ledger accounting, payroll, treasury, and financial reporting
• Lead and manage a team of accountants across the U.S.
• Partner closely with leadership on financial reporting, compliance and U.S. GAAP adherence
• Ensure compliance with donor restrictions, grants, and U.S. government funding requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA license strongly preferred
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role
• Nonprofit experience strongly preferred
