Role Summary
Reporting to the VP Finance Risk within the Finance and Treasury Risk team, this role will provide risk oversight activities and analytics related to capital, financial planning and analysis, and pricing. Responsibilities include maintaining and enhancing risk analysis and reporting, reviewing and challenging assumptions, preparing and presenting overview materials, and collaborating closely with Synchrony’s Risk, Finance and Treasury teams, including senior leadership.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Support oversight of the build‑out and execution of capital stress testing and regulatory reporting requirements applicable to a large financial institution.
- Conduct reviews and validate inputs to capital planning, including operating plans and short‑range forecast analytics.
- Challenge assumptions, perform controls testing, and conduct oversight activities around operating planning, pricing, and capital stress testing.
- Perform analytics, research, and explain drivers behind emerging data trends for underlying portfolios, related to operating planning and capital stress testing.
- Stay up to date on the regulatory landscape for capital, market, liquidity; conduct industry and peer analysis.
- Prepare analysis and present findings at the Finance Risk Sub‑Committee.
- Participate in ad hoc and special projects as applicable.
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in Credit, FP&A, Capital Planning or Finance analytics, or a BLP program graduate with 3+ years of experience in Credit, Risk or Finance.
- Alternately, 8+ years of experience in Finance or Accounting in Financial Services, with 3+ years in Commercial and/or Consumer lending.
- Exceptional MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Experience with financial forecasting models and the Hyperion Essbase system.
- Highly motivated and team player.
- Strong communication skills, able to prepare clear communication and confidently present insightful analysis to senior and executive management.
- Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing risk/business data and distilling large amounts of information to critical focus areas.
- Familiarity with current Synchrony Financial operating systems.
- Experience with FRBNY and/or OCC regulatory reporting requirements.
Grade: 11
Annual base salary range: $90,000.00 - $ USD. An annual bonus may be awarded based on individual and company performance.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be willing to undergo a drug test, background investigation, and fingerprinting as part of the onboarding process.
- Must satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
