Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer II
The Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer II is responsible for developing, originating, structuring, and managing commercial real estate lending relationships while contributing to the continued growth and profitability of the commercial lending portfolio. This position serves as an experienced lender within the Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer career path and independently manages moderately complex to complex commercial real estate relationships with limited supervision.
The Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer II is expected to demonstrate advanced credit analysis, loan structuring, business development, and portfolio management capabilities. This role proactively develops referral networks, identifies new lending opportunities, and serves as a trusted financial resource to commercial real estate investors, developers, sponsors, and business owners.
In addition to commercial real estate lending activities, and whether working in tandem with a Business Banking Officer or otherwise, the Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer II seeks opportunities to expand member relationships through deposits, treasury management services, insurance products, residential lending, and other Arizona Financial Credit Union products and services.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong credit judgment, a proven ability to originate and manage commercial real estate relationships, sound risk management practices, and the ability to independently manage increasingly complex lending opportunities while contributing to portfolio growth and member satisfaction.
Essential Job Functions
- Develop and maintain relationships with commercial real estate investors, developers, sponsors, business owners, brokers, attorneys, CPAs, and other referral sources.
- Proactively identify and pursue commercial real estate lending opportunities through networking, business development activities, centers of influence, referral partner development, and outbound calling efforts.
- Consistently achieve established production, portfolio growth, and relationship development goals.
- Solicit and service a variety of commercial real estate members and prospective members while delivering a high level of member service.
- Work closely with members and prospective members to identify financing needs and develop comprehensive lending and financial solutions.
- Independently manage commercial real estate lending relationships and serve as the primary point of contact for assigned members and prospects.
- Analyze, structure, negotiate, and manage commercial real estate credit facilities, including acquisition, refinance, construction, development, bridge, and permanent financing transactions.
- Review and analyze borrower and guarantor financial statements, tax returns, property operating statements, rent rolls, appraisals, project budgets, market data, and other supporting documentation to assess creditworthiness and repayment capacity.
- Assess complex credit relationships and develop financing recommendations that appropriately balance member needs, portfolio objectives, and risk management requirements.
- Prepare and present credit recommendations and loan structures through the approval process with limited oversight.
- Order, review, and evaluate appraisals, environmental reports, valuations, surveys, title reports, and other third-party due diligence materials in accordance with regulatory requirements and Credit Union policy.
- Conduct property inspections and assess collateral quality to support underwriting, portfolio management, and risk management activities.
- Coordinate with underwriting, credit administration, loan operations, legal counsel, appraisers, environmental consultants, title companies, and other third-party professionals to facilitate timely loan approval, closing, funding, and servicing activities.
- Represent Arizona Financial Credit Union in loan negotiations, documentation processes, and loan closings.
- Review loan documentation to ensure consistency with approved loan terms, proper collateral perfection, lien position, and compliance with approval requirements.
- Communicate with borrowers, attorneys, title companies, and other parties as necessary to obtain required information and documentation and facilitate loan closing and servicing activities.
- Manage and maintain an assigned portfolio of commercial real estate relationships to ensure strong asset quality, regulatory compliance, member satisfaction, and portfolio performance.
- Monitor assigned relationships through annual reviews, covenant compliance, risk rating maintenance, financial analysis, financial spreads, and ongoing portfolio surveillance activities.
