The Department of Emergency & Military Affairs (DEMA), led by The Adjutant General, provides emergency management and military capabilities to the citizens of Arizona and the nation. The Emergency Management Division consists of three sections-operations, preparedness, and financial administration. Each section works collaboratively across the agency and with external partners to manage emergency responses and reduce the impacts of disasters. Additionally, DEMA is the headquarters for the Arizona National Guard, the primary combat reserve of the United States military.
The Arizona Army and Air National Guard provide military forces and equipment to accomplish community, state, and federal missions.

Job Summary:
The Reservist II position serves in a part time, on-call, as-needed position.
The Disaster Recovery Specialist supports the DEMA Mission by providing emergency management capabilities to Arizona. Incumbent will support coordination activities in the areas of emergency preparedness, logistics, finance, response, recovery and mitigation efforts in order to reduce the impact of emergencies and disasters on people and property in the Whole Community. The Disaster Recovery Specialist works under the direction of the Human Services Coordinator in the Recovery Branch.
This position is critical to allow DEMA adequate staffing surge capacity. Individuals will personally prepare for anytime (24/7) response and no-notice recall to the State or Alternate Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) and/or Joint Field Office (JFO) during disaster exercise activations. Trains for specific SEOC positions and performs duties as assigned through internal agency policy. Actively participates in promoting a continuous improvement of workplace culture, through the use of teamwork, root cause problem solving, standard operating procedures, and review or performance metrics.
Job Duties:
Responsibilities include:
* Provides administrative functions in the area of emergency preparedness, logistics, finance, response, recovery, and mitigation.
* Monitors and tracks key documentation and correspondence. Collects and compiles field data. Communicates with partners, stakeholders, local community members, and the general public. Assist in preparing reports. Maintain accurate documentation and financial records. Prepares fiscal and performance reports.
* Prepare material for presentations and outreach. May be tasked to represent the agency at meetings with other governmental jurisdictions and before various community groups.
* Monitors and evaluates procedures to assure program conformance and integrity. Prepares a variety of technical and administrative reports. Provides required file governance procedures.
* Trains for specific State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) positions and performs duties as assigned through internal agency policy.
