The mission of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is to foster strong communities by supporting access to quality, affordable housing, expanding the housing supply, and unlocking home ownership opportunities for the American people. This position is located in the Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH). PIH's mission is to provide low-income families affordable housing opportunities as they transition to self-sufficiency and home ownership. PIH oversees the administration of HUD's Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, Section 8 Rental Assistance, and Native American Programs through a staff of Headquarters and Field employees. The field structure for PIH consists of 29 Hub Offices and 16 Program Centers that provide oversight, direct monitoring, and coordination for approximately 4,200 public housing authorities.
As an Administrator Office of Native American Programs, you will:
- Resolve sensitive issues by interpreting and applying new and existing policy and procedural instructions issued by Headquarters for staff, tribes, and TDHEs
- Maintain contacts with tribal officials, tribal council members, TDHE directors, tenant groups, local, state, and other Federal agency officials to effectively administer the Department's programs and resolve sensitive and controversial issues.
- Direct a staff of specialists in the aforementioned functional areas through subordinate supervision to provide performance oversight, compliance assurance, technical assistance coordination, and program implementation for tribes, TDHEs, and client groups under the Area ONAP's jurisdiction.
- Provide administrative and technical supervision of assigned staff including: evaluating subordinate supervisors.
