- Possess current/active AZ POST Certification.
- Or, have served as a certified peace officer in another state or federal agency

- Maximum reimbursement: $7,500 (for successful candidates residing outside of Maricopa County)
- Reimbursements for employee, spouse and legal dependents only; proof may be required.
- The County may, at its discretion, refuse to reimburse any moving expense lacking appropriate documentation or deemed unreasonable.
Compensation levels listed are based on candidates possessing a current Arizona POST certification. Out‑of‑state candidates may be able to waive a trainee academy through an Arizona POST waiver examination. However, if the waiver process is unsuccessful, candidates will be placed at the trainee rate of $29.00.
Position Qualifications- Minimum education and/or experience:
High school diploma or GED, AZ POST certification, U.S. citizenship, age 21. - Previous/Current law enforcement officers:
Must be U.S. citizens, 21 years old. Those with lapsed Arizona POST or who served as certified peace officers in another state/federal agency may apply. Must be eligible for AZ POST certification via waiver or academy. - Must possess, or obtain by hire, a valid Arizona driver’s license.
Prior to hiring, all applicants must complete physical readiness assessment, background investigation, polygraph exam, medical exam, and psychological exam.

Education and Experience
Any combination of advanced education (AA, BA, BS, Graduate Degree) or experience (including Military).
