The process is governed through development and enforcement of city codes and ordinances.

PDD currently has a Planner II vacancy in the Site Planning section.

Planners IIs are responsible for major planning functions or projects requiring combinations of skill in research, analysis, development, presentation, or interpretation of concepts and data pertaining to planning and implementation of plans. Tasks will be assigned based on the business operations of the division.

A Planner II on the Urban Planning and Policy (UPP) team works to support the creation of long-range policy for strategic areas within Phoenix. UPP Planners IIs work independently in developing and carrying out research, writing reports, and creating presentations. They are also delegated tasks in support of large-scale planning projects, such as coordinating with consultants or outside-department staff, drafting policy, as well as speaking at neighborhood meetings, Village Planning Committees, Planning Commission, and City Council.

IDEAL

CANDIDATE
  • Advanced knowledge of specialized planning concepts such as transit-oriented development (TOD), active transportation, and form-based codes.
  • Knowledge of Phoenix's Zoning Ordinance and planning processes.
  • Proficient written, verbal, and visual communication skills with the ability to make compelling presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Skills in building consensus among diverse stakeholders.

SALARY

Pay Range: $70,886.40 to $ annually.

Hiring Range: $70,886.40 to $90,459.20 annually.

  • Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
  • Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
  • Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
  • Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
  • Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
  • When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.
