The Fire Prevention Specialist II position inspects properties for conformance with federal, state, county, and locally recognized laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, and standards. This position is responsible for performing advanced technical fire prevention, complex plan review, and inspection work that is of a diversified and complex nature. Duties include providing analysis and approval of plans, specifications, and construction documents for buildings, processes, operations, and fire protection systems and equipment to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards;

and performing general inspections, new construction inspections, plan reviews, or other duties related to fire prevention codes, ordinances, regulations or standards. This position works independently in the field and is responsible for decisions requiring discretion, judgment, and familiarity with laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, and standards. Opportunity to underfill at the Fire Prevention Specialist I level. The Fire Prevention Specialist I inspect properties for conformance with federal, state, county, and locally recognized laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, and standards. Fire Prevention Specialists I are responsible for performing technical fire prevention, plan review, and inspection work of a diversified nature. Fire Prevention Specialists I are responsible for decisions requiring discretion, judgment, and familiarity with laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, and standards.

Work is performed under the general supervision of a Fire Prevention Supervisor or Fire Protection Engineer.

Pay Range: $30.92 to $47.95 per hour.

Hiring Range: $30.92 to $43.49 per hour.

Pay Range: $26.70 to $41.42 per hour.

Hiring Range: $26.70 to $32.46 per hour.

Pay Range: $23.06 to $30.92 per hour.

Hiring Rate: $23.06 to $28.04 per hour.

• Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
• Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
• Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.

• Two years of experience as a Fire Prevention Specialist I and ICC Certified Fire Inspector II certification.
• OR Three years of experience as a Fire Prevention Specialist in another government or private entity along with ICC Certified Fire Inspector II certification.
• Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
