Senate Page Program

The Arizona State Senate is hiring temporary part-time Senate Pages for the upcoming 2027 Session.

The Senate Page program provides applicants an exciting up-close look at the Legislative process in Arizona.

Pages are non-partisan staff and serve all 30 members of the Senate. The position pays an hourly wage of $17.00. Work would begin the second Monday in January and terminate upon session's conclusion. Although the Legislative session is expected to lastone hundred calendar days, past sessions have extended anywhere from March to late June.

The Senate Page program introduces students to the mechanics of the legislative process in an environment that fosters professional development and academic exploration. This unique paid internship program frequently produces political leaders in both the region and the nation by allowing participants to establish a far-reaching network of peers and mentors. Participants enjoy the incredible opportunity to follow the creation of laws from their inception to their eventual implementation.

Pages are present during exciting Floor sessions that both feature prominently in regional news and help forge the political landscape of the state.

Pages play an important role in the day-to-day operations of the Arizona State Senate. The most important responsibility of a Page is to attend to the needs of the Senators while on the Senate Chamber floor during formal sessions, in standing committee meetings and in Party caucuses. Pages assist in preparing for committee hearings and floor sessions by distributing legislative material to members' desks and setting up electronic equipment and computers.

Pages assisting Senators during Floor sessions and committee hearings are expected to stay for the duration of those meetings, which may extend into the evening hours.

Page duties are varied, including the general delivery of memos and messages, sorting incoming mail, delivering newspapers, picking up outgoing mail, bill filing, computer and technical assistance, and any other general assistance that is required. Other duties may include setting up computers and presentations and distributing legislative materials throughout the Capitol complex.

Each year a few outstanding Pages are also chosen to assist with constituent services casework. These cases come to the office when a constituent contacts a Senator seeking help, and they generally involve researching either state statute or agency policy, discussing the issue with an agency’s legislative liaison, and then updating the constituent on the findings. These cases provide general public interest experience and establish a base of knowledge for common tasks in other political positions.
