Responsibilities- Complete court ordered psychiatric evaluations (COEs) on the CRC Observation or Inpatient unit, in person or via telemedicine, and provide recommendations for or against placing the individual on COT.
- Review health assessments completed by nursing staff and obtain past and current medical history with pertinent review of systems.
- Initiate contact with Primary Care Physicians, Emergency Room clinicians, and Outpatient Behavioral Health Providers according to professional standards and established guidelines.
- Review and utilize all available documents from the crisis clinical team and collaborate with Interdisciplinary staff to ensure each treatment modality is appropriate for the patient.
- Work closely with the COE Program Manager to ensure the COE unit operates optimally.
- Escalate complicated cases to the CRC Medical Director or designee as clinically indicated.
- Work with the community to review involuntary petitions, assess involuntary patients, and coordinate with the legal system for Court Ordered Evaluation and Treatment.
- Utilize EHR information to render an opinion on whether the patient requires court‑ordered treatment and prepare an affidavit for the court.
- Possibly testify in court or at a COT hearing via teleconference.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine.
- 4+ years of post‑doctoral experience, including approved psychiatric residency training, in the delivery of mental health treatment to children, adolescents, and/or adults.
- Currently licensed by the State of Arizona.
- Board certified in Psychiatry.
- Familiar with ARS Title 36 regarding COE/COT processes and procedures.
- Fully vaccinated or exempt per company policy.
- Complete all credentialing requirements (NPI, Medallion enrollment, Medicare enrollment, etc.).
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Additional preferred experience:
- Prior experience performing court‑ordered evaluations and treating court‑ordered patients.
