as senior patient registration specialists
, we are often the first point of contact for our patients and their families. As such we value representing an important first impression. Our professionalism, expertise and dedication help ensure that our patients receive the quality of care they need. We are diligent in obtaining complete and accurate insurance and demographic information in a timely manner, this enables us to provide high quality, compassionate health care service to all who need them, regardless of their ability to pay.

this position is full – time (40 hours / week) monday – friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work on any of our 8-hour shift schedules between the hours of 6:30am - 5:00pm, monday through friday. No weekends or major holidays are required. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime, however, and voluntary ot is available after 90 days.

we are located at the cancer institute eph's hospital and medical center in the heart of downtown phoenix at 625 n 6th st, phoenix, az 85004. We have onsite café and provide 2 weeks of paid training. Performance-based bonuses are also available.

primary responsibilities
  • work as a lead in a designated clinic area or floor of the cancer center
  • responsible for reviewing daily staffing needs center
  • responsible for coordinating coverage
  • must maintain high levels of patient satisfaction and set a positive example for the floor team
  • review and audit the equity of registration services
  • keep team on task and meeting daily performance metrics
  • other patient registration duties as assigned
  • communicates directly with patients and / or families either in person or on the phone to complete the registration process by collecting patient demographics, health information, and verifying insurance eligibility / benefits
  • responds to patient and caregivers' inquiries always in a compassionate and respectful manner
  • obtaining benefits and insurance verification
  • point of service cash collection, co-pays, deductibles and coinsurance
  • accurate computer data entry
  • scanning of documents
  • registering and pre-registering patients elective and scheduled cases
  • working with various systems including patient registration and electronic medical record
  • generates, reviews and analyzes patient data reports and follows up on issues and inconsistencies as necessary
  • monitors and addresses tasks associated with the mede/analytics pai tool
  • when necessary, escalates accounts to appropriate patient registration leadership staff, based on outcomes of the verification process and patient's ability to pay clinic(s)

required qualifications
  • high school diploma/ged (or higher)
  • 2+ years of experience in healthcare with patient registration, customer service, a call center, a hospital, or a physician's office
  • 2+ years of insurance benefits experience and knowledge
  • 2+ years of previous experience in collecting patient copays, deductibles, etc.
  • 2+ years of customer service experience
  • 2+ years of professional experience with insurance policies and procedures
  • 2+ years of professional experience with medical terminology
  • ability to work day shifts, monday through friday, within the operating hours of the site (8 hours per day within the hours 6:30am - 5:00pm)
