This position provides high quality and appropriate patient care in the area of Audiology.
Position Duties- Diagnostic Audiology Assessments: selects appropriate diagnostic assessments such as evoked potentials, otoacoustic emissions, tympanometry, conditioned play based on age, development level, reason for visit, medical history, and department guidelines. Uses age-appropriate communication style and language, obtains and interprets age-specific audiometric data correctly using department norms, demonstrates knowledge of normal growth progression and developmental milestones.
- Effectively interview parents pre-evaluation, communicate results, recommendations, and financial resources to parents after evaluation, involve family in care plans and education activities.
- Make appropriate recommendations for amplification, therapy, referral, follow-up testing, educational adaptations, and home care for patients with hearing loss or at risk for hearing loss.
- Treatment: seek advice from other audiologists when treating patients with complex hearing loss or syndromes; select, fit, and check hearing aids based on guidelines; refer appropriate patients to cochlear implant team; submit correct codes to pre‑access for accurate insurance verification; document and charge for amplification within 24 hours.
- Documentation: accurately complete documentation and charges within 24 hours; complete clear concise reports using documentation templates; include appropriate professionals on cc of reports following HIPAA; enter orders for future visits; ensure safe handoffs via appropriate clinical information.
- Clinical Equipment: troubleshoot equipment, inform supervisor of issues, work with supervisor to create plan for coverage until equipment repaired; perform daily biological check of all clinical equipment.
- Professional Development: participate in huddles and staff meetings; develop evidence-based protocols and guidelines; participate in department process improvement; serve on audiology committees and specialty teams; may supervise a practicum student after 3 years of experience; acquire continuing education; proactively share knowledge gained with peers.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as requested.

Education
- Doctoral degree in Audiology from an accredited school.
Required
Experience
- Prior pediatric diagnostics experience.
Required - Cochlear implant experience.

Additional Requirements
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA or American Board of Audiology Certification.
Required - Eligible to obtain an Arizona Department of Health Services Audiology and Speech Language Pathology license (including dispensing audiologist) prior to start date.
Required - Current Arizona DPS fingerprint clearance card prior to start date.
Required - American Heart Association BLS certification prior to start date.
