Job Details:

• Work 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

• 4 total weekend shifts required per 4 weeks

• Holiday coverage based on unit needs

• Patient ratios of 1:1-2 with high number of 1:1 assignments

• Float to other ICUs and telemetry units (4:1 ratio on tele)

• Travelers float first before permanent staff

• May be required to float to Westgate campus

• Must have Level I trauma experience

• ICU experience required, CVICU preferred

• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (CCRN preferred)

• Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed)

• Strong IV skills required as there is no IV team

• Must pass day 1 orientation exam and SIMs lab (pass/fail)

• SIMs lab includes Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes

• 2-day floor-specific orientation provided

• Navy scrub color required

• Natural hair color and no facial piercings policy

• Men must be clean shaven for fit test

• Must have own vehicle for travel

• Care for cardiac surgery recovery, IABP, CRRT, lung transplant, thoracic, ECMO patients

• Handle high acuity cases with bedside procedures including bronchs, Swans, epidurals

• Work with Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry system

This major healthcare facility operates a 24-bed CTICU/CVICU unit providing Level I trauma care with very high acuity patients. The facility features intensivist coverage during days with on-call availability at nights, 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy services, and specializes in complex cardiac and thoracic procedures. The organization maintains strict clinical standards and expects high competency in critical care nursing skills, particularly in maintaining sterile field techniques and managing advanced cardiac interventions.
