Must have Level 1 Trauma experience.
All candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, with 2 attempts allowed.
Candidates must complete a SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.
Candidates must demonstrate competence in maintaining a sterile field.

Description:

The role is in a unit with a focus on neuro rehabilitation.
The unit has 52 beds and provides care primarily for patients with neurological conditions.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6, with nursing techs having a ratio of 1:8.
An interdisciplinary team rounds daily and includes doctors who round in-house.
The average length of stay for patients is 19-21 days.
This is a high communication role requiring personal involvement with patients and their families.
The patient population includes individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries, brain tumor resections, strokes, and organ transplants.
Coverage includes IV therapy and wound care.
Weekend requirements include working four shifts within a four-week period.
There is a lift, restraints, and wound care education component.
The facility has pharmacy and respiratory therapy available 24/7.
Candidates may float to any medical-surgical unit as needed.
Common busy times on the unit include early morning and evening shifts.
All candidates must present a natural hair color and have no facial piercings.
Men must be clean-shaven for a fit test on the first day.
There is a cancellation policy in place that allows for up to four shifts to be canceled during the assignment.
