Position Summary

This position serves as the liaison between the hospital and community agencies (EMSpartners) to coordinate patient care. It assists in the development of Phoenix Children's protocols and processes, educates agencies on established protocols, and raises awareness of the Phoenix Children's Emergency Services through community outreach efforts.

Position Duties
  • Provide training and education to EMS partner staff, including initial and ongoing education, competency validation, maintenance, and documentation of records.
  • Coordinate emergency drills, communicate with AzDHS, and attend statutory committee meetings.
  • Assist in the maintenance of contracts and ongoing communications with agencies, and collaborate with Legal/Risk departments.
  • Coordinate and facilitate EMS partner communication; attend and actively participate in state meetings related to EMS operations, correlate and submit requested data and reports, and contribute to positive collaborative relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Coordinate pharmacy refills of narcotic medication with EMS partners.
  • Manage communication equipment used with EMS partners: collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate equipment is available and functional, and maintain records.
  • Conduct quality assurance: audit records per guidelines/protocols, provide feedback to Phoenix Children's staff and EMS providers, coordinate and participate in pre‑hospital quality management efforts, maintain and coordinate requirements for base station certification/re‑certification, provide follow‑up on EMS provider exposure to communicable diseases, and maintain and assist with data collection and analysis.
  • Coordinate and participate in community outreach activities: provide education as needed, coordinate activities related to EMS Week, Phoenix Children's sponsored EMS conferences, and coordinate on‑campus activities with Injury Prevention and/or Trauma.
  • Coordinate hospital‑based paramedic student education rotations and continuing education experiences, assist Emergency Department educators with ongoing education related to pre‑hospital care, and serve as a content and clinical expert for Emergency Department Technicians and Paramedics.
  • Assist with clinical care in the Emergency Department: provide bedside clinical care within defined licensure scope, assist in real‑time with critical transfers, and provide expertise and recommendations to the clinical team.
  • Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested.
