Job Summary
Develop relationships with key Honor Health Network clinics to identify and meet customer needs. Oversee daily operations of the specialty pharmacy and maintain accountability for workflow, clinical management of patients, continuous quality improvement, adherence to policies and procedures, compliance with internal and external regulatory and accrediting bodies, pharmacy sales, expense control and inventory management.
Responsibilities- Manage the daily operations of the specialty pharmacy.
- Accurately fill prescriptions and provide courteous and efficient service to patients, prescribers, and others involved in patient care.
- Supervise and ensure compliance with accrediting body standards, report errors immediately and adhere to Honor Health policies on prescription incidents and continuous quality improvement.
- Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations governing drugs and products, and maintain required records, documentation, and reports.
- Recommend and implement asset‑protection controls and procedures to minimize profit loss.
- Maintain the pharmacy department’s housekeeping, maintenance, and appearance for safety, health, and wellbeing of customers and employees, and ensure adherence to applicable regulations.
- Control pharmacy safety and cash management, including electronic register readings, cash withdrawals, cash accounts, daily cash reports, and cash over/short records.
- Ensure proper operation of specialty pharmacy department systems and equipment, and administer third‑party pharmacy systems to reduce payment rejections.
- Resubmit rejected claims for payment promptly.
- Manage inventory by following Honor Health drug purchase procedures, ordering merchandise from appropriate sources, and controlling costs.
- Respond to customer inquiries and complaints, maintain and improve overall department image.
- Supervise staff, confirm training on required functions related to payer and contractual requirements, and reaffirm dispensing obligations.
- Participate in network quality improvement initiatives.
- Audit own performance, set objectives, and recommend standards of performance.
- Maintain awareness of developments in pharmacy, health care, and management fields, and integrate them into practice.
- Develop and maintain relationships with physicians and other health professionals, acting as a consultant on pharmaceutical therapies.
- Precept pharmacy students, meet College of Pharmacy requirements, and train new employees and interns.
- Doctorate from an ACPE‑accredited School of Pharmacy with a minimum Doctor of Pharmacy degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years in Community Pharmacy.
- Minimum of 2 years in Specialty Pharmacy.
- Pharmacist – License, Registered (RPh) – required upon hire.
- Pharmacist – License, Registered (RPh) – willing to obtain and maintain licensure in other states than Arizona – required.
