Job Summary

Provide virtual cardiac monitoring services to patients across the United States while working on‑site at Common Spirit Health’s Phoenix AZ Virtual Hospital located at 3033 N. 3rd Avenue. In a 24/7 virtual call center environment, monitor up to 60 patients nationwide, recognizing cardiac rhythms, arrhythmias, and oxygen saturation changes. Communicate findings to the on‑site patient care team calmly and efficiently to improve outcomes.

Key Job Responsibilities

Maintain continuous cardio‑pulmonary monitoring surveillance of assigned patients nationwide.
Recognize emergency versus non‑emergency changes and quickly evaluate the situation.
Initiate communication with the on‑site patient care team to report any situation requiring immediate intervention.
Practice direct observation skills to anticipate changes in cardiac rhythms and oxygen saturation and engage the on‑site staff as needed.
Serve as an escalation trigger for immediate patient care while providing a sense of comfort that monitoring is occurring.

Minimum Qualifications

Successful completion of a Basic EKG test within 90 days of hire.
Graduate from an accredited healthcare‑related program that includes an EKG Interpretation course, such as Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, EMT, Radiology, or Respiratory Therapy.
2 years of recent related work experience demonstrating attainment of requisite job knowledge and abilities.
Official transcript reflecting completion of fundamentals of nursing and one semester of clinical practice in an RN school that includes an EKG Interpretation course.

Preferred Qualifications

3 years of patient care experience or 2 years of experience as a monitor tech.
Graduation from an accredited program with an EKG Interpretation course, e.g., Associate’s degree in EKG Technology, Basic and/or Advanced EKG Certificate, EMT Certificate, Cardio‑Pulmonary Certificate, or nationally recognized EKG certification.

Required Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of standards, procedures, and equipment for monitoring and documenting cardiac rhythms.
Knowledge of procedures and equipment applicable to the assigned work unit.

Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations sufficient for performing the position’s duties.

Knowledge of contemporary office principles, practices, systems, and equipment.

Ability to accurately recognize cardio‑pulmonary rhythms and detect arrhythmias.

Ability to take appropriate action and follow established protocols in notifying RN staff of changes in cardiac rhythm and arrhythmias.

Ability to troubleshoot routine technical monitor problems.

Basic math calculation skills (addition and subtraction).

Ability to understand and apply instructions from the supervisor.

Ability to understand and adhere to procedures related to protected health information safety and risk management.

Proficient communication in English sufficient to perform duties.

Competence in using office equipment and automated systems/software at an acceptable level.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by the position.

Completion of Common Spirit Health’s competency‑based training program as a cardio‑pulmonary technician.

Pay Range

$19.73 – $27.13 per hour
