HIV Educator/Psychosocial Specialist

Reshape people’s perspectives and break down stigmas today! The CPLC Luces team is hiring an HIV Educator/Psychosocial Specialist to join the team! Note this role is a bilingual Spanish/English-speaking role in order to best support our clients.

Fulltime, Mon-Fri, 8 am - 5pm

Pay: $23.08 - $26.44 hourly, non-exempt DOE

About CPLC LUCES: CPLC LUCES (Latinos Unidos Contra el Sida/Latinos United Against AIDS) provides HIV prevention education and supportive services to people living with or at risk of HIV/AIDS to improve health outcomes, reduce health disparities, and address barriers to treatment.

How Will You Make an Impact in This Role?

You will provide direct covered services and treatment to individual clients, coordinate with community support and stakeholders. You will be responsible for managing appointment schedules as well as conducting targeted outreach to people with a known HIV disease or at high risk of HIV transmission so they may be enrolled in care and treatment services. Discuss how outside oppressors and barriers, such as religion, stigma, HIV diagnosis disclosure, and family dynamics affect the day-to-day life of individuals living with HIV.

Empower clients with skills connected with activities of daily living. Recruit targeted individuals for program participation, workshops, community meetings, surveys, and other activities by developing and distributing outreach materials, directly contacting targeted community members, networking with appropriate community organizations, and utilizing the broadcast and print media.

You’re on a mission to reshape perspectives! You model non-judgmental, unconditional support to communities who historically face barriers and stigma in accessing care, particularly Spanish-speaking and LGTBQIA2+ communities. You have the knowledge of HIV and health! You understand the dynamics of HIV, family violence, substance abuse and the stigmas facing under-served communities. You have the skills to find resources! Your experience with psychosocial assessments, the Ryan White healthcare system, navigating community resources and supporting clients in securing services makes you an asset for the LUCES team.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a field related to case management such as social work, nursing, public health, or other human services related field preferred. Or high school diploma and two years of comparable professional knowledge, skills and abilities that documents experience with working with HIV positive or high-risk individuals. Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and skilled at educating clients about HIV/AIDS and other STIs.

Able to work a flexible schedule weekdays and weekends as needed per program requirements. Bilingual:
English/Spanish skills. Must be able to communicate to Spanish speaking clients, considering the importance of knowing communicating medical terminology in both languages. Must have access to reliable, safe transportation and be willing to travel throughout Maricopa County and Pinal County. This position requires driving on behalf of the company. Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license, meet the company’s motor vehicle record (MVR) standards, meets company’s insurance eligibility, and comply with all state and federal driving requirements.
