JOB SUMMARY & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Clinical Program Supervisor provides clinical, operational, and administrative leadership for assigned behavioral health programs and multidisciplinary teams. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, workforce development, operational performance, and achievement of departmental goals.
Using evidence-based, strengths-based, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and culturally responsive practices, the Clinical Program Supervisor oversees service delivery, supports employee development, promotes quality improvement, and ensures alignment with Valle del Sol's mission, values, and strategic priorities. The Clinical Program Supervisor directly supervises assigned staff and collaborates with Clinical Team Leads, providers, operational leaders, and community partners to ensure integrated, patient-centered care.
Clinical Program Supervisors may be assigned to one or more specialty populations, service lines, or care settings. Program assignments and responsibilities may change based on organizational needs and may include General Mental Health (GMH), Serious Mental Illness (SMI), Birth to Five/Early Childhood Services, Substance Use Treatment, Opioid Treatment Program (OTP), School Based, Integrated Behavioral Health, and other specialty programs.
Clinical Leadership & Program Oversight- Provide clinical leadership and oversight for assigned behavioral health programs and service lines.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and culturally responsive services.
- Support complex case consultation, risk management, crisis response, and clinical decision-making.
- Monitor service delivery practices and patient outcomes to ensure compliance with organizational, payer, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with Clinical Team Leads and staff to support clinical excellence and patient-centered care.
- May provide direct clinical services as clinically indicated and/or per program needs.
- Directly supervise assigned clinical and behavioral health staff, including therapists, clinicians, care coordinators, case managers, peer support staff, and interns.
- Conduct hiring, onboarding, orientation, coaching, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, and employee development activities.
- Establish performance expectations and monitor productivity, quality, engagement, and professional development goals.
- Ensure required supervision is provided and documented in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Support employee retention, succession planning, licensure progression, and leadership development.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and psychologically safe work environment.
- Ensure compliance with AHCCCS, ADHS/OBHL, accreditation, contractual, payer, and organizational requirements.
- Monitor documentation quality, productivity standards, and key performance indicators.
- Review and approve clinical documentation completed by staff when required by licensure, credentialing, or regulatory standards.
- Oversee chart audits, corrective action plans, and quality improvement initiatives.
Support accreditation readiness, regulatory audits, and compliance monitoring activities. - Monitor patient safety concerns, incident reporting, grievances, and risk mitigation efforts.
- Monitor staffing levels, patient access, service capacity, productivity, and operational performance.
- Ensure adequate clinical coverage and continuity of care during staff absences and transitions.
- Approve schedules, timesheets, and time‑off requests in accordance with organizational policies.
- Support implementation of organizational initiatives, policies, workflows, and process improvements.
- Analyze program performance metrics and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
- Assist with budget planning, resource allocation, and workforce planning activities.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with healthcare providers, schools, community agencies, health plans, and other stakeholders.
- Support integrated care and multidisciplinary collaboration across service lines.
- Participate in community meetings, committees, and partnership activities.
- Promote continuity of care and service integration across programs and levels of care.
- Represent Valle del Sol professionally within the community and behavioral health system.
