Overview

Surgery Float Physician Assistant - District Medical Group (DMG) is a respected leader in the Phoenix area healthcare community, employing over 650 credentialed providers and more than 350 professional/administrative staff as one of the largest physician groups in the Valley. DMG is actively recruiting for a Float Physician Assistant to join our Surgery Department. The Float PA is part of a team rotation that covers the surgical subspecialties of urology, plastic & reconstructive surgery, and hand surgery at Valley wise Health Medical Center.

The Float PA will assist with inpatient consultations and discharges, daily rounding, first assist, Da Vinci robot assist, perform specialty specific procedures, and participate in in-house weekend call. Participation in teaching and didactics may also be assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Perform history and physical examinations of patients in inpatient setting
  • Participate in hospital rounds, and prepare documentation of daily progress notes as assigned
  • Enter patient orders as directed
  • Review and discuss results of medical imaging and laboratory studies with attending physician, fellow/resident/hospital staff, and/or patients as appropriate
  • Assist in staffing minor and operative room procedures within scope of practice and delegated by supervising attending
  • Assist with hospital-based continuity of care with knowledge of all patients on service and consult list
  • Assist with coordinating resident education and continuity of care of patients, ER consults and available for nursing questions regarding service patients
  • Assist with coordinating operative schedule for both elective and emergent/urgent procedures
  • Serve as a liaison with other services, answer pages and phone calls and take appropriate action with patients, under the supervision of attending staff
