Histology Supervisor
The Histology Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Histology department, ensuring production throughput and quality requirements are met. This role involves working closely with Pathology to ensure specimens are prepared and delivered on-time with high quality for review and analytical testing. The position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Resolve technical problems according to established policies and procedures.
- Monitor test performance and ensure remedial actions are taken when necessary.
- Provide orientation and training for testing personnel.
- Maintain stringent quality standards and communicate any issues that may impact test results or employee safety.
- Oversee daily operations of the Histology laboratory, ensuring timely and quality processing of samples.
- Interact with various cross-functional teams to address process and workflow issues.
- Assist in managing laboratory and cross-functional projects, including process improvement and quality enhancement.
- Write and review standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other relevant documents.
- Conduct staff performance assessments and facilitate development discussions.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies and company policies.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and assist with daily laboratory processing.
- Supervise staff, organize and prioritize work, conduct performance reviews, and manage work performance.
- Communicate goals clearly and motivate employees to achieve them.
- Uphold company mission and values, and support the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.
Essential
Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific field with 6+ years of laboratory experience.
- Detailed knowledge of CAP, CLIA, and NY regulations.
- Professional working knowledge of regulatory inspection preparation and execution.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, LIMS systems, and automated instrumentation.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Additional Skills &
Qualifications:
- Experience in a high volume Clinical or surgical Pathology Laboratory.
- Experience with using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Experience with project management.
- HT(ASCP) or HLT(ASCP) certification.
- Possession of active QIHC through the ASCP Board of Certification.
Work Environment:
The work environment consists of a small, closely knit team of about 24 technicians and 7 assistants. The role involves exposure to hazardous materials, tissue specimens, and instruments with moving parts. The position requires regular and reliable attendance, and may involve the use of chemicals and exposure to heating and freezing elements. Schedule Fri, Sat, Sun & Mon 8:00am – 6:30pm or 9:00am – 7:30pm.

Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $120000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Phoenix,AZ.
