Position Summary

This position is accountable for leading the development, execution, and implementation of the Cardiovascular system service line strategy, operational standards, program development, quality strategy, and financial performance across the system. The role ensures a collaborative, open, and inclusive work environment focused on quality outcomes and superior service orientation.

The position is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and execution of the Service Line strategy and delivery/service model for Banner Health's designated Service Line across the entire delivery system. Responsibilities include creation of a strategic plan, operating plan, and implementation of work activities to meet goals and objectives.

The role assumes responsibility for all aspects of business conducted within the Service Line; it monitors and improves financial performance, oversees operational and quality outcomes, develops programs, assesses effectiveness, ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, enforces procedures, policies, and standards, and is accountable for the functional P&L and attainment of financial goals.

Additional duties include physician alignment structures, independent physician relationships, practice acquisition, and joint venture or other alignment structures across all regions.

Core Functions
  • Leads the design, development, and implementation of a comprehensive Service Line strategic plan to drive growth, operational effectiveness, supply chain management, clinical effectiveness, personnel management, physician collaboration, and fiscal management.

  • Directs business development and prioritizes initiatives that drive service line strategic growth and leads the development of physician strategy for recruitment, mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.

  • Develops strategies and plans in alignment with the Insurance Division to streamline distribution and ensure effective, efficient, high-quality care in a cost-effective manner.

  • Accounts for improving financial performance, prioritizes performance improvement projects, allocates resources, establishes performance measures, and works with facility management to ensure efficient delivery.

  • Leads efforts in establishing evidence-based practices for the designated Service Line through effective resource management and collaboration with CCG.

  • Strategizes and drives process improvements focused on innovative care delivery and operational models to improve clinical services, outcomes, patient throughput, and safety.

  • Promotes high collaboration in a matrixed team environment, coordinates activities, resolves problems, and models service excellence at all levels.

  • Builds, hires, trains, and leads a highly effective Service Line management team, providing strategic support, design, and consultation.

  • Manages a system Service Line across multiple facilities, working closely with clinical, technical, and corporate resources to enhance the Service Line organization.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field – MHA, finance background, or service line clinical field of study.

    Required certifications/​licensures may include: RN, MD or DO, Driver’s License, Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), CPA, SPHR, Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), JD from an ABA-accredited school, admission to a State Bar Association.

    Must collaborate with a variety of clinical, technical, physician, and corporate resources; demonstrate high level of collaboration, critical thinking, service excellence focus, and results orientation.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Master’s Degree in related service line fields (or MHA, etc.) or 15+ years of service line experience with increasing leadership responsibility.

    Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
