Position Summary

This position performs diagnostic computerized tomography scanning procedures to produce consistently high quality examinations in accordance with all applicable standards, regulations and licensing requirements.

Position Duties
  • This position receives supervision of work activities from the Mgr, Radiology and does not supervise any other position.
  • Assists in training of imaging students as needed and provides CT safety lectures to all hospital staff members as necessary.
  • Maintains professional and technical competency through ongoing learning and staying updated with current literature and practices.
  • Participates in the evaluation and development of new procedures, protocols for imaging sequences, and quality improvement initiatives, proactively evaluating practices and assisting to implement changes to enhance effectiveness.
  • Performs diagnostic computerized tomography scanning procedures and exams, determining proper techniques and positioning to ensure optimal results in accordance with all applicable standards and procedures.
  • Performs finalizing functions, including limited coding using the radiology information system (RIS) to provide timely and accurate patient information and charge capture, and archives records in accordance with Radiologist specifications.
  • Performs regular equipment calibration and maintenance, identifies and troubleshoots malfunctions to ensure continuous proper and safe operations, and reports service needs and preventive maintenance issues as appropriate.
  • Provides CT safety information and lectures to patients and families to ensure thorough understanding of procedure protocols.
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
Education
  • Successful completion of a JRCERT approved radiologic program.
Experience
  • One year radiology experience.
  • (Preferred) One year pediatric imaging experience.
License & Certification Requirements
  • Current Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency MRTBE license.
  • Current ARRT registration in CT (must obtain within 1 year).
  • AZ Radiology License or AZ Cert Rad Tech
    - Required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – Preferred.
  • Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association – Preferred.
